Here is the edited video of the CPN Editor’s Choice with Aidan Sullivan. Few days ago, a picture of my series on the Inauguration Day in DC was selected to be featured in the new Canon Pro Network program.

I was very happy this morning to see one of my picture – from the « InOguration » series – selected among 4314 photos submitted for the new Canon Professional Network feature: the Editor’s Choice.
First in the Editor’s Choice ‘hot seat’ was the hugely respected Aidan Sullivan, vice president of photo assignments for Getty Images. He began his career as a photographer for a local newspaper in the UK and
then worked as a freelance news photographer in Fleet Street. He joined The Sunday Times as deputy picture editor and became picture editor, before joining The Sunday Times Magazine as assistant editor
responsible for all of the photography. Aidan won the International Picture Editor of the Year at Visa Pour l’Image 2000 and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society.
InOguration, a new Hope

J’ai eu la chance, le 20 janvier dernier, de pouvoir me rendre à Washington pour assister à l’inauguration de Barack Obama. L’idée était de suivre un groupe de supporter venant d’Harlem avec qui j’avais fait connaissance le soir de l’election le 4 novembre 2008. Deux millions de personnes avaient eu la même idée que nous, je n’ai donc jamais retrouvé mon groupe.
Mais j’ai trouvé ce que je cherchais.
Les gens, l’autre partie de l’histoire. Cette part silencieuse qui a fait le fondement de la campagne présidentielle de 2008. Cette masse venue communier dans le froid et témoigner de ce moment. J’ai retrouvé les mêmes visages de joie, d’émotion, cette même sensation d’être avec les autres, de former un tout.
Je ne pense pas que ces images aient fait le tour de la planète en première page des journaux.
J’avoue même que je ne sais pas si mon agence en a vendu, ne serait-ce qu’une seule.
Mais peu importe.
J’avais envie de voir ces images dans 10 ans ou 20 ans. J’avais envie de me rappeler. J’avais besoin de les avoir dans l’oeil. Même si l’expérience a pu être éprouvante, j’ai photographié pour l’histoire, pour mon histoire, pour documenter ce qui a été un évènement unique.
Pour être là et dire j’y étais.
When I set out to pursue my project of covering an American presidential election, I was drawn to the experience on both an intellectual and emotional level. I was immediately struck by supporters? emotional response to then-candidate Obama. Covering the campaign from its humble beginnings to election night in Harlem to a chilly January day in Washington, D.C. when Obama was sworn in as president, I?ve discovered the complexity of the American democratic process through an amazing journey.
