My Portfolio on the iPad

mai 3, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Since the iPad has been released, I was wondering how my portfolio would look like on the new Apple device. It was a huge disappointment when I realized the Home page didn’t display any of my pictures because of the flash gallery I was using.

Apple and Adobe are fighting over the flash technology since a while now,  and we now know for sure there’s no chance at all we can use flash on the iPad. I couldn’t let my website being out of the « Apple » universe. The device is great and I’m pretty sure a lot of photo editors will use it at home or at the office to consult pro portfolios. I also strongly believe in open standard such as HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript which are going to be widely implemented in our websites in the coming years. So I’ve made different technical improvements to be available on the iPad and to have a cross browser compatibility.

A couple of month ago, I’ve developed a series of WordPress templates for photographers, so I decided to redesign my website around a customized version of the Senseetiv Ying Template which has a JavaScript slideshow on the Home page and a CSS3 style sheet. I also followed the Safari Technical notes to be sure everything was working properly and tested the result on the AdobeLab. The result is great!

If you wanna have that kind of portfolio, please visit www.o2creation.org, or email me at info@o2creation.org for a customized template.

UPDATE: when I read this http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2010/05/apple-ipad-reaches-one-million-sold-twice-as-fast-as-iphone/I guess it was the right move…

Hello Guys, since I started to work on WordPress templates for photographers and especially for Photoshelter users, I really tried to improve my themes, and I think this last one is fulfilling most of the need of a photographer.

Today, I release Senseetiv Meenee wordpress theme http://bit.ly/bEyQVX

And oh, by the way, I also offer a $10 rebate for the launching of this new template. Use the coupon « SCTV10″
I hope you’ll enjoy this, of course, critics are welcome!
(demo here:http://bit.ly/bcnr4C)

One Template, Infinite Possibilities!

The Homepage has an integrated slideshow and an embed dropdown menu. You can display up to 20 of your best pictures to welcome your visitors – no flash! Which means everybody can see your photos, whatever the device. Plus I added a customizable background with 6 preinstalled wallpapers. If don’t like them you can also upload your own background to make your website very personal.

Photoshelter & Multimedia Ready

It’s easy to embed your photoshelter galleries, your multimedia essays or your videos within the dedicated pages. I’ve made the template to fit your needs in every cases. Plus, your clients can search your images on your PS archives through the integrated search box. When you install the template, you directly have the full blog features, plus 5 different spots where you can add whatever you need, to improve your website.
Options panel make it easy
I’ve worked on a dedicated Options panel to configure the Senseetiv templates. Through this panel, you can link pictures used for the slideshow to different webpages in your website or elsewhere. You can add your social contacts like your Twitter account, Facebook page, Linkedin profile or Flickr page as well as your email or your phone number. Finally, you’ll be able to track your visitors by adding a tracking code in your pages.
I tried to keep this template simple, clean and neat, easy to customize, but also highly personalized for each of you.

New Portfolio launched!

Here it is! Today, I officially launch my new website/portfolio/hub.
After months of work, and a lot of design studies I think I found the best way to promote my pictures.

A Flash/Wordpress platform

Inspired by the New York Times’s blog [Lens], I used a wordpress CMS, to easily update the website and two different flash galleries for the interactive behavior. I radically changed the design color (from a deep black to a soft grey/white) and improved the social implementation. I wanted to keep the flash experience – like a fullscreen toggle button, an embedded flash movie, an intuitive navigation – and maximize the SEO.

Photoshelter integrated

This portfolio is fully working with my Photoshelter archives. At the top of the website, you’ll find a search box connected to my PS archives. All pictures available in my archives, used with the slideshow on the main page are linked. If you like a picture on the main page, click on it, and you’ll be redirected to the proper archive page! Soon this concept will be extended to all portfolio pages.

Download, share and comment!

The green button on the main page allows you to download a sample of my portfolio and my contacts. You can keep it for your records or share it with your colleagues or friends.
At the bottom of each page, you’ll find a social tool to spread the words about what you seen, let your comments or print directly.
